The Simple Approach of Applied Neurology

Applied neurology seeks to optimize brain function through specific, neuro-targeted exercises, assessed using the assess-reassess process.

This process aims to 'decrease threat.' The higher the threat (or stress) perceived by the brain, the more it signals the rest of the body to slow down, conveying the message, "We are in danger."

Our brains are wired for survival. When the brain perceives any threat or stress, it sends signals to slow us down. This slowing down can manifest as pain, changes in metabolism, emotional stress, and more.

Unlike traditional neurology, which often focuses on pathology, applied neurology emphasizes enhancing the brain's natural abilities and improving its responses to sensory inputs. These inputs, which are how the brain interprets its environment, become the goal of applied neurology.

This approach allows us to observe how the nervous system responds and adapts accordingly.

The Goal Of Applied Neurology

The goal is to reduce pain, enhance performance, and improve overall quality of life by training the brain to function more efficiently, or what we call decreasing threat.

This proactive and preventive approach aims to maintain and improve brain health, rather than just treating disease.

Applied neurology employs a range of neuro-targeted exercises designed to recalibrate the brain’s responses to sensory inputs.

These exercises are distinct from meditation, brain games, yoga, or other common brain-related activities.

Instead, they involve specific drills that stimulate the visual, vestibular, and proprioceptive systems, aiming to enhance the brain's ability to process and integrate sensory information.

By doing so, applied neurology can help reduce unnecessary stress responses, improve motor control, and enhance emotional regulation.
