A Meeting Summary for the Long-Covid FREE Training (Above):

Quick Recap

The meeting focused on the evolving nature of Long-Covid symptoms and the impact on the body and brain. Kathy, Matt, and Brandon discussed the effectiveness of their 12-week group training program in helping those with severe symptoms. They emphasized the importance of retraining the nervous system to overcome these symptoms and encouraged those feeling severe symptoms to seek help. The discussion also covered the long-term impact of Covid on the nervous system and brain, the process of retraining specific functions, and various exercises aimed at improving physical and mental health. The meeting concluded with details about their upcoming group coaching program.

Summary

Long Covid Symptoms and Recovery Program

Kathy discussed the evolving nature of long Covid symptoms and their impact on the body and brain. She highlighted that their goal was to improve the body's capacity to handle new symptoms, not directly affecting the virus or viral load. Kathy introduced Matt and Brandon, who recounted Jen's journey with long Covid, emphasizing the effectiveness of their 12-week group training program in helping Jen recover from severe symptoms such as joint body pain, extreme fatigue, and chest tightness. Kathy stressed that their program is accessible to everyone, not just professional athletes, and encouraged those feeling severe symptoms to seek help.

Covid's Long-Term Impact on Nervous System and Brain

Brandon discussed the long-term impact of Covid on the nervous system and brain, focusing on symptoms that emerge around the four-week mark. He explained these symptoms include ongoing respiratory problems, heart rate issues, high blood pressure, brain fog, physical pain, loss of smell and taste, dizziness, vertigo, and vision problems. Brandon attributed these symptoms to the binding of the spike protein to the ACE2 receptor, causing systemic inflammation and cell damage. He also highlighted problems with the Vegas nerve and the dysregulation between it and other organs, as well as autonomic dysfunction in the brain stem. Brandon also touched on the topic of immune response suppression, especially in relation to neurological symptoms and vaccines, noting that the research on this topic is extensive and will be shared in a later presentation.

Long Covid Neurological Rehabilitation Discussed

Brandon discussed the implications of long Covid on the nervous system and the body, highlighting a disconnect between the two. He used the example of dysautonomia, a condition where the body fails to respond to physical exertion properly, to illustrate this point. Matt then took over, discussing the approach of their group to treat long Covid through functional retraining of the nervous system. They emphasized that neuroplasticity allows the brain to change, learn new functions, and create new neural pathways. Their program focuses on the top 12 symptoms of long Covid, which are primarily neurologically based, and aims to retrain the brain and neurons through repetitive exercises.

Retraining Functions Through Targeted Exercises

Matt and Brandon discussed the process of retraining specific functions through targeted exercises. Matt outlined the plan to provide training exercises from the group's program, with Brandon leading the first part of the exercise training. Brandon then explained the assessment process, focusing on opening a dialogue with the nervous system through range of motion tests. He explained that the brain's perception of threat inputs, such as stress or physical pain, affects overall health and that changing these inputs can lead to improved outputs. The discussion concluded with Brandon emphasizing the importance of focusing on the brain stem area for autonomic function.

Physical and Neurological Health Exercises

Brandon led a practice session of various exercises and techniques aimed at improving physical and mental health. He demonstrated shoulder abduction, emphasizing the importance of maintaining elbow lock for proper execution. He also introduced a breathing exercise known as 'Long Exhale', which involves a 2-second inhale and 8-30 second exhale, with the aim of reducing symptoms of respiratory distress. Brandon further discussed tongue activation, a method to stimulate the cranial nerve controlling tongue movements, and the humming exercise, which stimulates the vagus nerve. He concluded the session with an eye pressing exercise, also known as the oculo-cardiac reflex, aimed at regulating heart rate. Brandon encouraged participants to identify and continue with exercises that positively impacted them.

Tracking Your Progress

Matt emphasized the importance of noting down exercises that improve range of motion so they can be practiced again. He discussed the importance of practicing certain exercises to stimulate neural pathways in the brain stem, with the aim of reducing the perception of threat and improving range of motion. Matt suggested doing these exercises 5 times a day for 2-3 minutes (each practice session), with the aim of making daily activities easier. They also emphasized focusing on easier exercises first before tackling more challenging ones, and stated that the best exercises would be front-loaded into the first week of group training.

Long Covid's Effects on Midbrain and the Vagus Nerve

Matt explained the effects of long covid on the midbrain and vagus nerve areas of the brain & nervous system. He described the midbrain as becoming overly sensitive and over responsive, leading to dysautonomia such as rapid heart rate fluctuations, sweating, chronic pain, and anxiety. To manage this, Matt suggested an exercise called "converge and hold" to help regulate the midbrain. He also discussed the vagus nerve, which typically becomes underactive in long-covid, leading to inflammation and issues with breathing, heart function, digestion, and detoxification from the kidneys and liver.

Vagus Nerve Tapping Exercise Explained

Matt explained a method for activating the nervous system via a tapping exercise, which involved touching the back of the ear and tapping on the stomach. He explained that the exercise should be repeated on the other ear, and noted that the exercise usually results in an improvement in range of motion, indicating a change in the nervous system. He suggested again practicing these exercises five times a day for a total of 15 minutes per day. Matt also mentioned that this neuro training could affect all body's neurological functions and could potentially help with a wide range of symptoms. He further explained that they have a cheat sheet connecting the top 10 neurologically based symptoms with the most useful exercises to retrain those symptoms.

Neurological Recovery and Covid-19: Kathy's Experience

Kathy stressed the significance of reconnecting the communication pathways between the brain and the body, particularly in the context of neurological symptoms and Covid-19 recovery. She criticized the health industry for not fully utilizing this approach due to potential lack of profitability. Kathy shared her personal experience of using the program with her Covid-affected parents and emphasized its cost-effectiveness. She advised the audience to take a gradual approach to recovery, not to rush back into intense activities, and to enjoy the feeling of being well before taking on new challenges.

Coaching Program Details Confirmed

Kathy and Matt discussed the details of their upcoming group coaching program. They clarified that the coaching calls will be live and held on Zoom every Thursday mornings, at 8:00am Pacific Time. The sessions, which will include live coaching, support, neurology exercises, and mindset practices, will last for 60 minutes. A private Facebook group will also be available for participants to use during the week. The program also offers a 15-day free trial with no initial charge, after which participants will be charged $35 per week/$140 per month. The program aims to be affordable, with the cost being significantly lower than other similar programs.

Flexible, Affordable Recovery Program

Matt and Kathy discussed their 12-week recovery program, emphasizing its flexibility and affordability. They highlighted the individualized approach, with customized drills and exercises to fit each participant's needs. Kathy stressed the importance of playful experimentation within the program to find what works best for each person. The goal is to improve communication between the brain and the body, empowering participants to fully engage in their lives again. The registration link is below!
